2023 will be remembered as the year TAG Heuer pulled out all the stops to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Carrera. An unforgettable year in which the Swiss watchmaker crafted memories that will live on for quite a while. It has been a year of excellence. A year of milestones. A year that celebrated the past, the present, and the future of an iconic collection. Let’s relive some of the year’s highlights, shall we?

Straight out the gate, TAG Heuer began the year with two showstoppers: the TAG Heuer Carrera 60th anniversary (released at LVMH Watch Week) and the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Orange Racing. From here, the hits kept on coming. We moved on to Watches & Wonders 2023, where TAG Heuer released a whole range of breathtaking timepieces. Oh, and the Carrera got a new look. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph was the talk of the town with its innovative glassbox design. There was, of course, more to come.

No-one expected this next surprise. In April, TAG Heuer stole the show with an action-packed film starring superstar and TAG Heuer ambassador Ryan Gosling. Witty, irreverent, and wonderfully crafted, The Chase for Carrera perfectly captures the spirit of the Carrera collection. Dotted with cheeky references and ‘Easter eggs’, the piece took the anniversary celebrations to a whole new level.

The film was followed by a series of new Carrera releases. There was the TAG Heuer Carrera Date. (We can’t get enough of that pink dial!) And then we witnessed the return of a beloved timepiece. Yes, 2023 saw the return of the Skipper. We covered its history and heritage in A Matter of Time, a podcast by TAG Heuer. The year was then sped up with another collaboration with Porsche. The TAG Heuer Carrera Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche further pushed the watchmaker’s approach to precision and innovation. There was also the more playful and artistic TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Team Ikuzawa by Bamford. Both these watches are must-haves for motorsport enthusiasts.

Of course a storied collection like the Carrera deserves its own book. That’s why TAG Heuer took everything we know about the Carrera and put it on the page. There was no better time than 2023 to release The TAG Heuer Carrera: The Race Never Stops, a beautifully-designed book that takes you through some of the most important moments in the collection’s history. Divided into six captivating chapters, each representing a decade of the Carrera’s existence, the book is the perfect gift for collectors and enthusiasts. Have you got your copy yet?

As we approached the finish line, TAG Heuer released one final masterpiece: a gold TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph. Inspired by the gold Heuers from the ‘70s, TAG Heuer crowned the 60th anniversary of the Carrera with a watch that exudes greatness. A mic drop on an incredible year.

The year-end simply wouldn’t be the same without the TAG Heuer elves. And in their typically delightful style, the elves paid homage to a year that was sprinkled with stardust.
