SPORT Human X: an extreme cinematic event

TAG Heuer presents La Nuit de la Glisse’s latest tribute to extreme sports in extreme times: the new movie HUMAN X.

The greatest athletes have this uncanny knack of overcoming unique sporting obstacles. While they’re blessed with boundless talent and extraordinary skill, they also have the instincts to adapt to any given situation. But what if these unprecedented challenges come at you in the form of the planet and its changing climate? How do athletes take on Mother Nature? Well, there’s a new film that seeks to answer these questions.

TAG Heuer is proud to support NDG cinema’s latest offering by Thierry Donard, Human X.

The documentary is about extreme sports athletes who show extraordinary sporting resilience in the face of increasingly chaotic climatic challenges. Human X, which will be featured at the NDG Film Festival, explores their ability to adapt to the most dangerous conditions.

The X factor

Human X pulls back the curtain on the lives of remarkable individuals, presenting an unembellished narrative of their journeys as they navigate some of the harshest conditions on Earth. From the rugged terrains of British Columbia to the icy heights of Mont Blanc, this documentary glides you through awe-inspiring locales that form the backdrop of the athletes’ extraordinary exploits. Raw, real-life adventures that starkly portray the phenomenal adaptability of humans under extreme conditions.

An extreme cast of athletes

Central to this narrative are speed riders, steep riders, slab surfers, and freeride mountain bikers from across the world. A gritty collection of extreme athletes who are constantly turning the planet into their playground. Witness the surreal exploits of French speed riders Valentin Delluc and Ugo Gerola, who redefine aerial artistry with their daring maneuvers. Hop on a gripping ride alongside Canadians Ryan McIntosh and Christopher Beaton as they conquer formidable terrains on their mountain bikes, painting a vivid image of resilience and control. Equally riveting are the exploits of the Brown brothers, Kerby and Cortney, as they slab surf on the shores of Western Australia. Their adventures in perilously shallow waters exemplify a control and finesse that can only be honed through years of dedication and an unyielding resolve to excel.

But Human X is not just about the seasoned athletes; it also shines a spotlight on emerging talents such as Zian Perrot-Coutet, Mathieu Moullier, and Gaspard Ravanel. These young riders exhibit prodigious skill as they traverse steep descents on Mont Blanc, a heart-stopping testament to the endless possibilities of human potential. The documentary is dedicated entirely to the beauty and boldness of ‘glisse’ (gliding) sports. The title is an homage to these athletes. It brackets them as being ‘Human X’. Oh, did we mention that in the midst of this adrenaline rush, you might just spot the athletes wearing the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200? After all, it isn’t an extreme sports documentary without a timepiece that’s made for people who push the boundaries of what’s possible.
