It’s not called ‘the greatest spectacle in racing’ for nothing. A rich history. Quirky traditions. Legendary stories. Three generations of fans. Here’s a closer look at what makes the Indianapolis 500, or the Indy 500, ‘the greatest spectacle in racing’.

A rich history. Quirky traditions. Legendary stories. Three generations of fans. There are so many reasons why we celebrate each running of the Indy 500. Part of racing’s Triple Crown, alongside Le Mans and Monaco, the Indianapolis 500 holds a special place in motorsport. It isn’t just the action on the track that appeals. It’s the legion of spectators who travel from across the world to Speedway, Indiana, U.S.A. every Memorial Day weekend. It’s the milk bottles for the winners. It’s the kissing of the Yard of Bricks. All of these things make the Indy 500 more than just a race.

TAG Heuer is proud to be a part of this timeless institution. As the Official Timekeeper of the Indy 500, we’ve put together a collection of moments and memories that celebrate ‘the greatest spectacle in racing’. Here’s to many more.
