The ‘glass box’
When TAG Heuer first unveiled new releases of the classic TAG Heuer Carrera chronograph in a ‘glassbox’ case in 2015, it marked the latest revolutionary innovation in the brand’s illustrious history. TAG Heuer’s engineers created a new style of domed sapphire crystal for the 39mm case, with the dimensions of the dome reflecting those of the classic Heuer Carrera chronographs of the 1960s. This year, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the collection, the brand is unveiling new limited-edition members of the TAG Heuer Carrera family including this glass box feature.
Collectors and watch lovers alike have praised the 39mm glass box case as the perfect window to showcase the collection. The captivating case lends itself beautifully to both the high-contrast monochrome minimalism of the 1960s and the bold colors and radical styles of the 1970s, reframing familiar details in a way that captures the essence of the collection’s heritage, all while pushing the boundaries of today’s trends.

The new classics
The two new chronographs exude the Carrera’s classic cool. One chronograph features the signature blue dial and a blue calfskin strap. The other timepiece is graced with the racy black and silver ‘reverse panda’ dial, an ode to some of the most coveted Carreras from the ‘60s, like the reference 2447 NS, which is probably the rarest Carrera of them all. Both models house the domed sapphire glass box case with double anti-reflective treatment to ensure readability at a glance in any environment.
True to form, these new releases from TAG Heuer are a fusion of classic design and innovative engineering. These limited-edition commemorative Carrera chronographs include the latest innovation of TAG Heuer’s in-house Calibre TH20-00, an upgrade on their pioneering in-house movement, the Calibre Heuer 02.
Showcasing the very best of our remarkable design heritage and engineering expertise, these collectible chronographs are perfect additions to the Carrera family, and to the wrist of any collector who wants to celebrate the birth of an icon.
The limited edition ‘glass box’ chronographs will be sold in TAG Heuer boutiques, on the brand’s e-commerce website, and at select retail partners. Let’s raise a glass to the iconic glass box.
