Innovation takes many forms, including the quest for, and application of, new materials and technologies. TAG Heuer has always kept a finger on the pulse of science to maintain its avant-garde edge. In 2022, it presented a striking new TAG Heuer Carrera that opened a new chapter in the brand’s pursuit of horological excitement and inspiration.
Integrating the exceptional Manufacture Heuer 02 Tourbillon Nanograph movement and its exclusive carbon nanotube hairspring, the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde fuses advanced watchmaking expertise with stunning aesthetics.
The dial covered with a granular polycrystalline layer of lab-grown diamonds, forming a stunning glittering backdrop. To top it off, TAG Heuer’s watchmaker have added a flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock. These lab-grown diamonds, which the Maison refers to as Diamant d’Avant-Garde, are crafted using a cutting-edge process called the Plasma technology also known as Chemical Vapor Deposition. A substance reaches the state of plasma when it is heated to extreme temperatures.

A creative universe
Because the Plasma technology is based on a chemical process in a laboratory setting, the shape and color of the resulting lab-grown diamonds can be controlled, offering a myriad of possibilities for the creative designers at TAG Heuer. Ever since 2022, TAG Heuer has explored these many esthetic opportunities. In 2023, to celebrate the TAG Heuer Carrera’s 60th anniversary, the company launched the TAG Heuer Carrera Date in an elegant white-gold case with a spectacularly contrasting crown and a redesigned shield logo in pink Diamant d’Avant-Garde. It was followed up in 2024 with a version set with lab-grown diamonds in a warm yellow hue that provides the watch with a brand-new character. The twelve indices on both models are also made of white lab-grown diamonds. It is a new horizon in luxury watchmaking.
