Colors always generate emotion. They instantly conjure images and sensations that can tell an entire story without the need for words. The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph, for example, pays tribute to the many assets of the great Mediterranean city it was named after. The famous TAG Heuer Monaco case, with its striking geometry, now comes in lightweight titanium and coated in a sleek matt black finish of sandblasted DLC.
The dial is in an understated dark blue hue, elegant and contemporary at the same time. The bright yellow hands of the chronograph indicators and the luminescent hour and minute hands shine brightly like rays of sun on a calm, blue backdrop that conjures images of the magnificent sea spreading at the foot of the city. The watch comes on an embossed calfskin and rubber strap in the same handsome blue completing the understated yet distinctive look of this model.
The colors of the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph are inspired from the legendary Formula One race that takes place in Monaco every year. Winding its way through the city, it is known as one of the world’s toughest circuits. It demands the utmost skill and concentration from the drivers. The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph recalls this race in myriad ways. There are the touches of yellow that bring to mind the cars flashing by at high speed, or the city’s sun. The skeleton design of the dial, introduced in three colors in 2023, reveals the powerful mechanism driving this chronograph. The dial also has two outlined sections at 6 and 12 o’clock that resemble the narrow pit stops on this notorious track. The first is for the date aperture over which the small seconds turn imperceptibly, the second for the famous shield logo.
The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph runs on the robust calibre TH 20-00 that beats at 28,800 vph and delivers 80 hours of power reserve, leaving ample time if not worn for a weekend. The exhibition case back allows for a look at the driver of this engine, a black PVD-coated rotor that includes the TAG Heuer shield. The all-important column wheel controlling the chronograph also peers through the back plate thanks to its bright yellow coloring.
