Watches Color chronicles: Green steals the show at LVMH Watch Week

The color green is in the spotlight at this year’s LVMH Watch Week, which kicks off in Miami on 29 January. In the early 1900s, well before commercial sponsorships decorated race cars, the world of motorsports communicated through a palette of vivid colors. Originating from the Gordon Bennett Cup, where each nation was assigned a distinctive color, these racing hues became symbols of national pride and even led to the creation of new and unique shades, such as British Racing Green. These colors evolved into a distinct presence on the racetrack, where each shade told a story — a legacy of speed, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of victory.

Our latest color addition pays tribute to the elegance of vintage racing, seamlessly blending it with a modern feel. Teal, a cool mix of blue and green, is our choice for our new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph “Dato” and Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon. This special TAG Heuer teal, which was first introduced with the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph (reference CBK221F.FC6479) in 2021, is now a permanent member of our color family, connecting us back to our rich racing roots.

Born in 1963 without a date complication, the TAG Heuer Carrera embarked on a transformative journey, adding its first date at 12 o’clock in 1966 and unveiling the iconic Dato layout in 1968 with the date window shifted to nine o’clock. This shift wasn’t just a visual upgrade but a functionality boost, enhancing accessibility and turning the Heuer Carrera 45 Dato into a timeless classic. Fast forward to today, and the latest TAG Heuer Carrera Dato seamlessly marries tradition and innovation, featuring rhodium-plated indexes, a green teal azuré mono subdial, and an open caseback showcasing TAG Heuer’s Heuer 02 movement (Ref. TH20-07) with an 80-hour power reserve.

Continuing the vibrant theme of green, we are also introducing the TAG Heuer Connected Watch Calibre E4 in a light refreshing hue, embodying the spirit of adventure and modernity, which seamlessly contributes to the vibrant color palette of our new release alongside the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph “Dato” and Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon.
