Welcome to the series that swerves your stopover into a whole new dimension.

Anything goes in Dubai. As one of the fastest growing cities in the world, this booming metropolis of the Persian Gulf knows no limits. Get ready, because we’re about to whisk you away on a whirlwind tour of breathtaking views and luxurious adventures… [Warning: Dubai is not for the faint of heart, nor for those with a fear of heights.]

Wild rides for adrenaline junkies

You’ve never been skydiving until you’ve plummeted 4,000 metres over the Palm or Desert Drop Zones of Dubai. Whether you opt for an urban or desert diving experience, exquisite panoramas await. And if you’re an experienced skydiver, you can sign up for advanced training at SkyDubai’s desert flight school.

Looking to make a bigger splash? Dubai’s beaches offer up plenty of opportunities for water sports. Whether you’re already a kitesurfing pro or a first-time paddle boarder, the city’s beaches beckon. For a well-rounded water sports education, try Dukite’s 101 program, and become the fully-fledged “waterman” you were born to be.

One-stop-shop

For a bit of retail therapy or obligatory gift-buying (your call), the Dubai Mall is the ultimate solution. Considered the largest mall in the world by some calculations, this shopping centre is like none you’ve ever seen before. Home to over 1,300 retail shops including luxury boutiques, as well as an aquarium, a VR park, a cinema, an ice rink, a rainforest cafe and more, it boasts enough entertainment that you may forget about shopping altogether!

Desert dreams

It’s easy to forget that Dubai is in the middle of the Arabian desert. For an immersive reminder, book a sandboarding experience (yes, that’s like snowboarding but on sand) in the magnificent dunes. Or, try dune bashing for an unforgettable SUV journey. At the mercy of a skilled driver, you’ll speed up the dunes and then enjoy heart-dropping falls. Keep your windows closed and your cameras ready: cinematic clouds of dust are a major part of the thrill.

Forget breakfast in bed. Have your first meal of the day at 1,200 metres in the air. For spectacular desert views, sail away at sunrise in the comfort of a hot air balloon. Get picked up directly at your hotel and then let yourself be transported. Expect to see camels, gazelles, falcons and other marvels of the sprawling desert valley.
