SPORT TAG Heuer x Indy 500: 19 years of precision timing

The wait was worth it. Despite the start of the 108th edition of the Indianapolis 500 being delayed due to unpredictable weather on May 26, 2024, the 33 drivers eventually delivered an exhilarating spectacle to approximately 125,000 spectators in the stands of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
After over three hours of intense racing on the legendary racetrack, covering 500 miles, Josef Newgarden emerged victorious. He defended his title, becoming the first driver since Helio Castroneves in 2001-2002 to win the race two years in a row. His victory came down to a decisive overtake in the final lap, allowing him to edge past Pato O’Ward by a mere 0.3417 seconds.
TAG Heuer has been the official timekeeper of the race for 19 years. This weekend, TAG Heuer celebrated with fans, brand enthusiasts, and ambassadors: the actresses Madelyn Cline, Emelia Hartford, and race drivers Toni Breidinger and Alexander Rossi.
An inspiring conversation
“We are thrilled to be back in the heart of America, celebrating our long-standing partnership with IndyCar and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” said Beatrice Goasglas, President of TAG Heuer Americas. “TAG Heuer is a brand synonymous with racing, and there is no better proving ground to demonstrate our passion and strong heritage in motorsport than on the racetrack here at the Indy 500.”
The previous night, the Maison hosted a party where we enjoyed a fascinating discussion between Alexander Rossi and former racing driver Justin Bell. Topics included the synergies of precision between motorsport and watchmaking, Rossi’s preparation for an endurance race like the Indy 500, and captivating career anecdotes.
An exceptional timepiece to celebrate
In homage to the brand’s rich heritage in racing, this year marked another milestone in the series of Formula 1 special edition watches: the renowned Swiss watchmaker unveiled the new 43mm Formula 1 Chronograph Indy 500 Special Edition watch, drawing inspiration from raceway motifs and featuring the iconic #11 prominently in bold red, paying homage to the race’s founding year, 1911. While waiting for the next edition of this legendary race, you can discover the watch here.
